Student Absences

  • Email before the start of the school day. 
  • State the student's name, homeroom and the reason they will be out for the day. 
  • If your child has been marked absent but you did not call him/her in, we will make every effort to contact you or your emergency contacts. 
  • It is NOT necessary to send in a note once your child has returned to school. 

 

Early Dismissal

 

Please come to the front office and sign your child out before leaving the building. Please do not go directly to the classroom.

 

Late Information 

 

  • Arrival after 8:10: Students stop by the front office and receive a late slip to give to the teacher
  • Arrival After 8:20: He or she should be accompanied by a parent or a guardian to sign in

 

Change in Dismissal Plans

 

If there is an unexpected change to your child’s after school routine (e.g. you are arranging for someone else to pick up your child), please call the office and speak directly to our Administrative Assistant. 

 

For the children’s safety, we can only take changes in dismissal plans from parents or guardians. Please contact the office before 2:00 PM with any changes.

 

Note: Arrangements for play dates must be made at home and a note sent in by the parent.

 

School Calendar

 

  • Our district website has the approved district-wide school calendar that includes vacations, early release days, etc. 
  • Additionally, our Lynch website includes additional dates of field trips and school wide activities.

 

Visitor Information

 

  • All visitors and parents coming to Lynch during the school day must check in at the office, sign the register, and obtain a visitor’s pass. 
  • If you have something to drop off for your child, please leave it with the office staff (labeled with your child’s name and teacher), who will see that it gets to your child.

Teachers

 

Emails for teachers consist of their first initial and last name at winchesterps.org. For example, Mrs. Capodanno’s email would be ccapodanno@winchesterps.org.

 

Please keep in mind that their priority is with the children, and they may not check these messages during the school day.

 

For issues directly related to the classroom, please speak first to the teacher before contacting Mrs. Capodanno. 

 

Contact from School

 

There is a district wide system called Parent Square which is used to send emails to the entire school regarding any important events. Use this sign in link to register. When you register, you may choose the language you would like to use for communication. To change your language setting, go to preferences and language settings. Here is a video that shows how to change language preferences in ParentSquare. 

 

School Cancellations due to Weather

 

An announcement will be sent via Parent Square if school needs to be canceled, delayed, or dismissed early due to the weather conditions.

 

Arrival Procedures

 

*Please note, there is no supervision before 8:00am for students. 

 

Car Arrival

 

  • Live drop off on Brantwood Road side and Horn Pond Brook Road side
  • Pull all the way up to the sign
  • Have student exit the vehicle on the passenger side
  • Slowly leave the drop off line and continue to the exit

 

Bus Arrival

 

  • Students will be dropped off at the bus loop on the Brantwood side where a staff member will greet and direct them

 

Breakfast

 

  • Students who receive breakfast will be directed to the main entrance to get breakfast in the cafeteria at 7:45am
  • For the 2026-2027 year breakfast is free for all students

Bus

  • Students will be checked in by a staff member and placed on the appropriate bus

 

Car Line

  • Place a piece of paper in your front windshield (passenger side) with the student name and grade in bold, visible print

 

Walkers - Kindergarten

Walkers - Grades 1 and 2

 

  • Exit from front doors at Brantwood Road side of building 

 

Walkers - Grade 4

 

  • Exit from back doors closest to the gym

**Car Line, Parking and Car Safety**

 

  • Students should ONLY enter and exit the vehicle on the passenger side of the car.
  • Do not park in restricted areas.
  • Parents who are dropping off or picking up students on Horn Pond Brook Road should pull up all the way to the sign. Once your student has exited the vehicle, move away slowly. 
  • Drivers MUST remain in their vehicles. A staff member will direct students to their vehicle.  Vehicles should be put in park before allowing children to exit vehicles.  At dismissal, students will be sent directly to the vehicle in the car line as their name is announced.
  • To make this procedure most efficient and manageable, students should enter and exit from the passenger side between the STOP sign and ALL along the sidewalk.  
  • Turn off your car engine if you arrive early at dismissal time and are waiting in line.  This will reduce the presence of harmful fumes.

  • Federal nutrition program that provides eligible residents with monthly financial assistance to purchase groceries.

*Please note that even though meals will be free for all, it is very important for families to complete the household Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals for the 2026-2027 school year. You can view and complete the application here: Free & Reduced. 

This form allows us to establish eligibility for P-EBT benefits, waive transportation fees for those who qualify, and serve families most effectively.

Incoming Medical Information

 

  • For school entrance requirements/immunizations, policies, forms and health information visit

  • All Kindergarten students and new students to Lynch must have a copy of recent physical exam and updated immunizations
  • Kindergarten students must have a lead test result
  • Epi-Pens, Food Allergy Emergency Action Plans, and an Individual Health Care Plan must be provided to the school nurse on the first day of school.

 

Medications

 

  • It is recommended that medication be arranged so that it can be administered before or after the school day, whenever possible.
  • A written, signed and dated request by a physician and the parent/guardian is needed to authorize the dispensing of prescription medication in school.
  • Written authorization from the parent/guardian is required for over the counter medications.
  • an authorized adult should deliver the medication to the school nurse.

 

Guidelines for Knowing when keep children at home

 

  • NOTE: Children should be fever-free for 24 hours without medication prior to returning to school.
  • Elevated temperature within the past 24 hours
  • Vomiting or diarrhea occurring within the past 24 hours
  • Undiagnosed rash
  • Untreated lice (pediculosis) infection
  • Suspected conjunctivitis (pink eye)
  • Strep Throat- less than 24 hours of antibiotic treatment
  • If recovering from an illness and still unable to fully participate in school

 

Food Policy

 

  • No food sharing - Students are to eat only foods provided by their families or purchased through our school cafeteria.
  • Snacks - Students eat snacks in the classroom each morning. We encourage healthy snacks. 

 

Life Threatening Food Allergy

 

  • If your child has a life threatening food allergy or medical condition, please schedule a time to speak with our school nurse to write an Individualized Health Care Plan
  • Children with Life Threatening food allergies may also choose to sit or not sit at the Allergy Awareness table in the cafeteria during lunch.



 

Volunteering & Involvement

 

Lynch Parent Association (LPA)

 

  • A non-profit 501 (c) 3, school based network of parent volunteers dedicated to the enrichment of our children’s education, health and welfare. 
  • Look for information regarding LPA meetings to find out how to get involved.
  • Please feel free to contact the LPA president(s), whose contact information can be found at Lynch School Parent Association.

 

CORI Information

 

  • State law requires all staff and volunteers who work with children to complete a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) form every 3 years in the presence of a CORI authorized employee (Principal and Admin. assistant). This is information that is used to ensure student safety and is kept confidential. 
  • Please stop by the office to complete a CORI form if you have not done so already.

Winchester School of Chinese Culture (WSCC)

 

Winchester School of Chinese Culture (WSCC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to teach the language and traditional culture of China through classroom instructions, the arts, and cultural events and to promote and engage in cultural exchanges and civic activities to develop and sustain community-school partnerships. WSCC

 

Japanese Language School of Greater Boston (Arlington Office) 

 

This school’s purpose is to educate, maintain and strengthen the Japanese language of Japanese children residing in Boston and surrounding suburban cities. St. James Armenian School 

 

Operating out of St. James Armenian Church (467 Mt Auburn St), this weekend program offers Western Armenian language instruction for children from preschool through 8th grade. St. James Armenian School

 

Islamic Center of Burlington 

 

Located near Winchester, the ICB Sunday School runs from September to June (approx. 20 minutes from Winchester). It features dedicated teachers, separate classes, and a curriculum covering Quran, Tajweed, Fiqh, and Sirah.  Islamic Center of Burlington

Special Services

 

If you have concerns about your child’s success at school, the first step is to speak with your child’s teacher. The teacher may consult with our Student Success Team (SST), who will recommend specific strategies for your child and/or additional assessments.

 

School Support Team (SST)

 

  • Students identified through general education benchmark data may be eligible for interventions in-class to support a specific academic area
  • Parents will be notified by the general education classroom teacher at conferences and throughout the year as needed

 

504 Plans

 

  • Students identified with a learning disability or a disability limiting life activity may be eligible for in-class support through accommodations and modifications
  • Annual meeting with the school team to update as needed
  • Parents and the school team can request a 504 meeting at any time throughout the school  year

 

Individualized Education Plans (IEP)

 

  • Students identified with learning disabilities may be eligible for one or more of the following special education services: speech and language, occupational therapy, physical therapy, mental health, or academic support. 
  • Once identified, an annual meeting with the school to team takes place to discuss progress towards current goals and to update services, goals, and accommodations
  • Comprehensive reevaluation takes place every 3 years
  • Parents and the school team can request an IEP meeting at any time throughout the school  year
